At 6 AM on Thursday, adroyt boarded the Acela in New York’s Penn Station and we were whisked away to Washington, D.C. to join the opening ceremonies for the 2011 Solar Decathlon at Potomac Park West. We were guests of Miele, the well-known German appliance manufacturer, on a press trip to preview the WaterShed entry by the University of Maryland, of which they were a sponsor. The train ride was a pleasure: speedy, quiet, and well-suited to getting a little social media work accomplished while hurtling along the mid-Atlantic coast to the nation’s capital. The quick change of scene almost evoked time travel: the fact that the engine was labeled 2009 fit the plot perfectly!
